ALLEGAN, Mich. (AP) - Tree growers from across the country will meet in southwestern Michigan next week to decide who will provide the White House with this year's Christmas tree.
Winners of state and regional competitions will bring their trees to Peterson's Riverview Nursery in Allegan to be judged next Friday and Saturday. The official White House Christmas Tree provider will reportedly be selected by a panel of growers, industry experts and consumers.
Submitted trees must stand between 6 and 8 feet tall and have natural coloration and branch structure.
The grower of the chosen tree will provide another tree from his or her farm for display in the White House's Blue Room.
