NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZZM) -- A Grand Rapids man is dead after a Tuesday night hit-and-run accident in the metro Nashville, Tennessee, area.
Metro Nashville Police said in a statement that 71-year-old Rev. Al Hoogewind of Grand Rapids had just gotten off a bus in the Madison neighborhood with a co-worker and was crossing the street when a dark-colored sedan struck him. A witness said the sedan had the green light at the time of the crash.
The sedan left the scene, and investigators are asking for tips from anyone who knows anything about the vehicle involved. It might have front-end damage.
Hoogewind's co-worker was not injured. The website for Centennial Park Counselors lists Hoogewind as a staff member.
