GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Police dispatchers around West Michigan are telling drivers to stay off the roads if they can, and to slow down if they cannot avoid travel.

There were numerous accidents across the area Thursday morning, including multi-vehicle crashes in Newaygo and Ottawa counties.

Dispatchers were reporting slick snow-covered roads in West Michigan, with rural areas seeing drifting snow.

Hundreds of school districts have closed or delayed classes Thursday due to the weather conditions.
