WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- People in the Wyoming area have a new place to do some of their back-to-school shopping.

After a year of construction, the new Wal-Mart at 355 54th St. SW opened at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The new 182,000 square feet Supercenter is expected to bring 300 jobs, local revenue and low-priced merchandise to shoppers. The store features and expanded produce section and a drive-through window in the pharmacy department.

The grand opening celebration included presentations of $6,000 in grants from Wal-Mart to local community groups. Grant recipients include South End Community Outreach Ministries, Kent County Library, Wyoming Department of Public Safety and the Kent County Sheriff's Department.
