GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) -- A four-year-old girl was rescued by her mother, after a wave knocked her off the south pier in Grand Haven Wednesday afternoon.

The child wasn't wearing a life jacket, according to Grand Haven's Department of Public Safety.

After the mother jumped in the water to save her, bystanders threw the mother a life ring and brought both to safety.

The girl was not hurt in the incident.
