GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Some of West Michigan's top law men and women gathered Wednesday night to roast Grand Rapids Police Chief Kevin Belk.

Chief Belk announced his retirement in January. He is serving in an interim basis until the city selects his successor this summer.

Belk's roast was the highlight of Silent Observer's annual fundraising dinner.

Former Grand Rapids police chiefs Bill Hegarty and Harry Dolan and Kent County Sheriff Larry Stelma took part in the event, with former U.S. Ambassador to Italy Peter Secchia serving as emcee and roastmaster. Chief Belk's retirement was used tonight... as way to help raise money for Silent Observer.
