PLAINFIELD TWP., Mich. (WZZM) -- One of the largest sports construction projects anywhere in West Michigan is finally ready for the public, and we're getting a first-hand look at the Art Van Sports Complex on 10 Mile Rd.
It's the culmination of two years of moving earth and building baseball diamonds. Donors helped generate the $7.5 million the project required.
Now, the West Michigan Sports Commission has a beautiful facility to show off.
WZZM 13's Tom Clyde is live there at 5:30pm and 6pm, as the media and some invited guests are getting golf cart tours of this massive property. There's a welcome ceremony coming up at 7:30pm and some competitions following.
Then, there will be games out here starting this weekend.
It's going to become a destination location for amateur baseball and softball teams, and organizers say it's going to mean big fun -- and big bucks -- for West Michigan.
