EAST LANSING (LANSING STATE JOURNAL) - Former Michigan State and NFL offensive tackle Flozell Adams is giving $1.5 million toward MSU's Spartan Stadium north end zone project, specifically toward the new home locker room.
That locker room will be named after his late mother, Rachel Adams, pending final approval from the MSU Board of Trustees. She passed away in 1996.
"It wasn't an easy one but I felt from the bottom of my heart it was a good decision," Adams, an All-American as a senior in 1997 and a 13-year NFL veteran, said of the donation.
MSU coach Mark Dantonio thanked Adams for the gift, saying it will make "the ultimate difference" and put MSU's facilities on par with the best in the nation.
MSU has now raised more than $20 million for the $24 million project, which is scheduled for completion in July. It includes locker rooms, a new media center and recruiting lounge.
